The Cherokee Indians loved the land
And walked it with a reverent hand
They lived in peace and harmony
Till the white man came with destiny.
The soldiers came with guns and might
To move the Indians out of sight
They drove them down the Trail of Tears
Through cold and hunger, pain and fears.
The Cherokee mothers cried and wept
As they walked the trail where their children slept
And where their tears fell to the ground
Rose Rocks grew without a sound.
So when you find a Rose Rock rare
Remember the sorrow and the care
Of the Cherokee mothers long ago
Whose tears made the roses grow.
In Oklahoma's red earth deep,
Where ancient secrets sleep,
A flower made of stone appears,
Formed slowly over millions of years.
Not carved by human hand or art,
But nature's gift from the very start,
Each petal rough with sandy grain,
Colored by iron's rusty stain.
Rose Rocks bloom beneath our feet,
Where mineral and crystal meet,
A treasure that will never fade,
Oklahoma's rose that nature made.
While garden roses bloom and die,
Beneath the Oklahoma sky,
There grows a rose that time can't kill,
A flower made of earth and will.
No water needed, no sunshine bright,
It formed in darkness, out of sight,
Where barite crystals slowly grew,
Creating something strong and true.
Hold one close and you will see,
A rose that lasts eternally,
Oklahoma's gift from deep below,
A stone flower that will always glow.
